Activities within the project “CSA-CycleSeeing Attractour” co-financed by the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia 2014-2020. from the European Regional Development Fund are continuously implemented.

The implementation of the ETIS system in the Municipality of Štrigova has been completed. Recall, ETIS (European Tourism Indicator System for Sustainable Destination Management) aims to boost the environmental attractiveness of cross-border tourist destinations, in this case the Municipality of Štrigova and the Municipality of Nagykanizsa. The latest data were collected and processed. One of the most interesting is the indicator of water consumption, according to which in 2021 the tourism sector consumed 177.57 liters of water, which is 20% less than in 2020, while the local population consumed 119.88 liters. This indicates that in the coming period it is necessary to introduce ways to save water either through water-saving taps, using communal water through purifiers or new systems that allow less water consumption and raising awareness of tourists about responsible behavior in the destination.

Work on the construction of a lookout on Mađerka hill is also progressing. The Cycling Information Center is taking its final form and procurement for its equipment is underway.

The renovation works of the Cycling Center at the Boating Lake in Nagykanizsa have been completed. It became beautiful inside and outside: the cladding of the facility was renewed, new doors and windows were built in, thermal insulation was carried out and the roof was renovated. Procurement of equipment, furniture and bicycle equipment is in progress.

In the immediate vicinity of the lake, the paved pump-track will be completed by spring, which is a skill course where, if the cyclist skillfully “pumps”, he can easily go around without turning.

In the coming period, we are dedicating ourselves to the upcoming activities and together with the project partners we are preparing a promotional brochure and video. Signposts are waiting for us. We are also preparing for a joint presentation at the Naturo fair in Gornja Radgona, where destinations and attractions for potential tourists will be presented. After the planned attractions (Cycling Info Center with a lookout and Eco Visitor Center with pumptrack) are completed, workshops for children and tourism experts will be held. The development of a web application for measuring the ecological footprint of the area of Međimurje and Nagykanizsa – Zalakaros with accompanying content is nearing completion and we will soon be able to use it.

Let us remind you that the Cycle Seeing Attractour project started in September 2020, and its implementation includes the Municipality of Štrigova, the Štrigova Tourism Board and the Municipality of Nagykanizsa, while the project leader is the Public Institution for Development of Međimurje County REDEA. The total value of the project is 1,463,966.46 EUR, and the new attractions of the project will be the Cycling Info Center with a lookout on Mađerka Hill, and the Eco Visitor Center with a pumptrack in Nagykanizsa.
